OUTRAGE AGAINST THE REPUBLIC

BUSH SHOWS US JUST HOW TOUGH ON CRIME HE IS (WHEN YOU ARE ONE OF HIS RICH WHITE FRIENDS)
HOW TOUGH BUSH IS ON CRIME IF YOU ARE POOR AND BLACK

It’s funny, conservatives don’t generally talk about how terrible it is for criminals to recieve ‘excessive punishment’ unless it’s one of their own. Despite all of the lies the right wing media try to disseminate, Valerie Plame was an active undercover CIA agent whose career was dedicated to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Her husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson (whom, when threatened by Saddam Hussein  in 1990 with execution for harboring over 100 Americans at the Embassy, appeared at a press conference with a noose around his neck and said ‘If the choice is to allow American citizens to be taken hostage or to be executed, I will bring my own fucking rope’) wrote a New York Times op-ed entitled ‘What I Didn’t Find In Africa’ in which he accused the Bush Administration of exaggerating the case for war in Iraq. Mere weeks later Columnist Robert Novak exposed her identity while revealing his sources as ‘two senior administration officials.’ Ever since then the White House and their synchophantic panegyrists have lied, distorted, impeded, and generally done everything they can to keep the identities of those ‘two senior administration officials’ secret and to impunge the credibility and character of the injured whistleblowers. Vice President Cheney’s Chief of Staff Lewis Libby was sentenced to prison for doing just that. And with the identities of those ‘two senior administration officials’ who knowingly committed felonies still secret, President Bush has commuted Libby’s sentence.

That Bush did this over the Fourth of July weekend is most likely because he hopes vacationing Americans won’t notice, but the bitter irony of his act being committed so close to Independence Day should be lost on no one. The Republican action against President Clinton if nothing else set the bar incredibly low for justifying bringing articles of impeachment against a sitting President. It is certainly past time to call for action against this would-be dictator and his henchmen.
