Rachel Maddow’s going to have Grandpa Hatey on her show tomorrow night (Thursday, that is) to explain these comments. It should be good…these two seem to take genuine delight in debating one another.
Also…and I never expected to hear myself say this in a million years…the most insightful questions posed to Sotomayor in today’s hearing were posed by Al Franken.
Did yousee the NYTimes article on the Obama administration opening up asylum to battered women? Apparantly, the Bush admin had been blocking their petitions. Another reason to sigh a breath of relief.
Yes I remember hearing about that a few times on NPR. They were using several different methods/”reasons” to do so. Sigh, just don’t understand the time and effort spent… must be the same “moral reasoning” used to blame black welfare mothers for the tanking economy in the 80’s.
I think Franken is going to distinguish himself as a senator in the same way that Jon Stewart has become one of the voices of honesty in our media. Our culture has become so weird that only comedians can be taken seriously. Rachel Maddow spanks Granpa Hatey. Worth watching.

hey Lily,

Hey ladies…
Oh, I love Franken as well–it’s just surprising to me that the comedian was the only one during the hearings who WASN’T hilarious.
Then again, these confirmation hearings are always funny.
